What are the symptoms of genital herpes in women? Could there be no symptoms?

Certainly could be no symptoms. Herpes is not always "active", you can not always see the effects, but periodic outbreaks tend to happen

i was diagnosed a little over a year ago so i know my stuff.

first off, you can have no symptoms.
my boyfriend, who i contracted it from has never in his life had an outbreak or symptoms and probably never will.
1 out of 4 people have it, and more than obviously, most don't know and don't have symptoms.

alright now for symptoms...which sadly i do get.

its all just painful.

first of the blisters, described to me as uclers by my doctor. they itch a bunch! like crazy! and it's SUPER painful. my first outbreak i had people carrying me and my books to classes. its that bad.

if you get one in the wrong place...urinating can become the worst experiecnce of your life!

second, you can get a mild fever. thats a bit broad though.

finally. back pain. it can get really, really bad.
normally lower back pain.
the virus moves through the spine and is harboured there between outbreaks in the nerves.

The primary outbreak of genital herpes tends to last longer and be more severe than subsequent (recurrent) outbreaks. Symptoms of a primary outbreak may include:

* Flulike symptoms, such as fever, headache, and muscle aches. These symptoms usually get better within a week.
* Tingling, burning, itching, and redness at the site where an outbreak is about to occur (prodrome).
* Painful, itchy blisters on the penis, on the vulva, or inside the vagina. Blisters may also appear on the anus, buttocks, thighs, or scrotum, either alone or in clusters. They may be barely noticeable or as large as a coin.
* Blisters that break and become shallow, painful, oozing sores.
* Swollen and tender lymph nodes in the groin.
* Painful urination.
* Abnormal vaginal or urethral discharge.

Occasionally a person will experience symptoms months or even years after being infected, making it very difficult to identify the sex partner who was the source of the infection.
