1) Abstinence-only education - that is, ignoring everything that educators know about adolescent psychology and biology and telling kids to not have sex (and making sure they have no good information about sex or contraception - other than the schoolyard myths they learn from their peers)
or
2) Sex education - making sure that teenagers are fully informed about their bodies and have the information to make good decisions about sexual activity and will be able to protect themselves from the negative conseqences of sex.
What do you think - inform the kids about sex, or keep them ignorant?

Of course abstinence is the only true form of protection from STI and unplanned pregnancy, but ignoring sex education? Absolutely not.
My eighth graders took a baby home for a night, one that was programmed to cry when it was hungry, needed a diaper change, or was just "upset." Part of the program was sex education and how much a baby could change their lives. I also emphasized the fact that there were viruses they could get, and these never went away. Never, and they might not experience any symptoms for some time. I thought for a 12 year old that might make a difference.
It's the consequences that need to be focused on. A doll for a night isn't much, but it was something. In the end, you hope they will make the best decision.

Abstinence is the way to go but as they are getting pregnant as early as 13 then they need to be taught about the risks of unsafe sex.If you keep them ignorant then they will goand it anyway so the best course is to make them aware.Niot ideal. Not all kids will though.

The best way of course would be to educate kids on the dangers of having sex . Abstinenence is the best but we all know that teens are full of hormones and that most will give in to the feelings that they are having so educating them on safe sex practices is the best option. Keeping them ignorant about sex will only lead to certain unfortunate events ( possible disease, death or babies at an early age).
