If I had infectious mononucleosis and it went away, is there a chance that I get the herpes simplex 1 virus?Ok, about 5 months ago, I had infectious mononucleosis. After two weeks my symptoms went away and i had a test made and the virus was not present. Now, I feel sick and have two "cut like" things in my lips (the inner part). My mother says it could be herpes simplex 1 but she is not sure. Is there any chance that mono and herpes are related and one can cause the other?

Herpes simplex 1 appears on the outside of the lip. A sore on the inner side is a canker sore which is caused by mouth ulcers and is not related or contagious.

Each disease is caused by a different virus, so no, 1 would not cause the other. The HSV1 is generally found on the outside of the lip. The common "cold sore". Maybe a vitamin deficiency? In particular, I am thinking Anemia?
