Yes , babies are born everyday with AIDS and Herpes can be given to a baby if the mother is having an outbreak during delivery. Not sure about any others, though.

STD can be picked up as you are born if your mother has them...otherwise there is only one way to catch them...As for HIV unless you are working in the medical field and do not take precautions, there is only one way and one way only to get HIV...

I'm a nurse, and you can ONLY get at STI from sexual activity, or if you're mother is a carrier of one that can be passed on to you. HIV can only be contracted by sexual activity, or bodily fluid transfer, like blood transfusions, etc. Check out one of my favorite web sites for more information on specific STI's

Babies can have HIV transmitted from their mothers, a lot of babies are born HIV positive, fortunately fewer in America now, but many were in the '80's and '90's, and also millions are born HIV positive in Africa and other places.

Babies can be born with Syphilis and Gonorrhea. Gonorrhea can cause blindness, in the past, drops were put in babies eyes soon after birth to prevent a kind of blindness caused by Gonorrhea.

A Sexually transmitted disease is just that, an adult can not just develop it, but I guess something could show up later in life if it was there from birth, I don't know. But it is either something you contract, or your mother contracted before you were born.

Other babies can be born with a kind of immune deficiency that is not AIDS. It is not sexually transmitted, they just have it. They usually do not live long. I forget what it is called. But a movie was made years ago about a boy in a bubble, who could not come out of this thing that kept him from being around germs.

HIV can be contracted from HIV positive blood or other bodily fluids other than semen, etc.

Babies can get STI's from their mother although that doesnt always happen. HIV can also pass from mothers to babies but if the mom takes retroviral drugs, they can prevent this. This is all for babies only.

Adults catch STI by having sex with an affected person. HIV also adults have to catch it some way. It cannot just develop in your system.
