No, I think you can masturbate just fine. I'm pretty sure they have abstain from sex because to make sure the drug works and you don't re-catch it. I'm not sure, but that's what I think.

Shana B is right. Abstinence is so you don't pass along the std to others. 'Do-it-yourself' sex is safe and should not cause you any problems with your treatment. Be sure to take all of your medication and keep to yourself until well after you are sure you are cured. No point in passing it along and/or starting all over.
