Does abstinence 100% of the time prevent you from receiving an STD/STI?

Does abstinence 100% of the time prevent you from receiving an STD/STI?Yes, there are ways to prevent getting a Sexually Transmitted Disease / Sexually Transmitted Infection, such as using a platex condom when having oral, anal, and/or vaginal sexual intercourse. But I've heard that abstinence is your best bet. My question is, does abstinence help prevent STDs/STIs 100% of the time? I've heard that some, such as Pubic lice or Scabies may be transmitted through close contact, such as intimate kissing or hugging. I've also heard scenarios where mothers pass on STDs/STIs to their babies during pregnancy.

What is your opinion on this growing issue and why?
Yes I did post this in the Wrestling section on purpose.
No I'm not mentally defficient.

I just was curious to what you wrestling fans would say, seeing a question like this pop up.

But to answer your question if you don't have sex you won't get an std most of the time. You could get AIDS or whatever by getting someone's blood that has aids in your blood stream..I guess that goes for a lot of the STDS.

You still can get many STD/STI's even without having sex. You can get public lice (crabs) and scabies through close contact, through sitting on an infected public toilet, trying on clothes at the store, and many other ways. You also can get a yeast infection from any foreign body that enters you (a tampon could even cause it). Blood transfusions can also be a cause...
