Yes it is possible to not contract herpes, herpes isn't always 100 percent automatically passed on when you have sex with some one that has it, but there is always a small risk of contracting it even if your partner takes all of the proper precautions..
When she doesn't' have an out break it is safer to have sex but there is even a small chance that she could pass it on if she is not taking antiviral medication regularly. Never have sex if she thinks she is having an out break, herpes is very contagious while there are any sores or blisters.
Yes you can still have healthy children. Herpes can be fatal to new babies but it's rarely passed at birth. There are preventative measures doctors take to help prevent herpes from being passed to new babies. There can be some complications if the baby does contract it but it is rare for a baby to contract it. Usually c-sections are recommended to mothers that have herpes but if she wants to have a natural birth then she can take antiviral medication a couple of weeks before her due date this can prevent out breaks so there would be less risk of passing herpes to a baby.
