How long after treatment for chlamydia is it safe to have intercourse?My boyfriend and I were both treated for chlamydia with a one time dose of zithromax on a Friday, and they told me that its okay to have sex after 7 days. Can Chlamydia really be gone that soon? since im on Birth control we do have unprotected sex. Is it safe to have sex and not get infected again?

7 days enough to eradicate chlamydia infection.
There is no guarantee though that infection will not happen again in life, but now you know that with proper medicine, you will be ok, so don't worry and have a good time.

Wait a week after finishing the medication and get re tested just to make sure that the chlamydia has been treated. You shouldn't have sex while your being treated, you could pass it back and forth again.
Just so you know birth control doesn't prevent stds or hiv from being passed it only prevents pregnancy.
