Is hepatitis most commonly sexually transmitted, or is it usually caused by other factors?

Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver.
Hepatitis with a letter after it, like Hepatitis A,B,C,etc is a virus that has
entered the body and is using the liver cells to replicate itself.

Hepatitis B can be sexually transmitted, but Hepatitis C is uncommon
for sexual transmission unless the mucosal barrier is broken.
It is best to use condoms and other protections when having
relations with anyone who has a Hepatitis " viral" infection.

Some other factors can include someone not washing their hands
after using the bathroom: feces in the food or water;
Blood transfusions; Blood dialysis; unsterilized needles; tattoos;
any type of blood contact; saliva; using their personal items like razors,
toothbrushes, etc; poor hygiene: undercooked fish; raw fish; shellfish, and others.

Hope this has been of some help

No there are many possible causes of hepatitis.
Hepatitis is the Greek term for liver inflammation and this can have a number of possible causes.
Hepatitis C and B are viral diseases that can be sexually transmitted or by blood contact such as sharing of used needles. However the virus is very infective and could be spread by sharing razors and toothbrushes with infected people. Sexual transmission of hepatitis C among heterosexuals is rare, but there have been recent concerns regarding possible sexual transmission among gay men with HIV.
Most patients with acute hepatitis B fully recover in about four to six weeks. Very few patients develop liver failure as a result of acute hepatitis, and risk a fatal outcome.

Hepatitis A is usually acquired by eating food or drinking water that has been contaminated by the faeces of infected individuals.
Infections can be serious - requiring hospitalisation or they may be sub clinical.

There is also Hepatitis D which it appears can only infect people infected with Hepatitis B and results in more severe complications compared to infection with Hepatitis B alone.

Other viral causes of hepatitis include:
Herpes simplex; Cytomegalovirus; Epstein-Barr; Yellow fever; adenoviruses

Non viral infection that can cause hepatitis includ toxoplasma; Leptospira; Q fever; rocky mountain spotted fever.
Hepatitis can also be caused by Alcohol; toxins: Amanita toxin in mushrooms, carbon tetrachloride, asafetida
Drugs: Paracetamol, amoxycillin, antituberculosis medicines, minocycline and many others.

Other medical conditions can also cause hepatitis:
Ischemic hepatitis (circulatory insufficiency)
Pregnancy
Auto immune conditions, e.g., Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)
Metabolic diseases, e.g., Wilson's disease
