Is herpes a disease and does my husband have it?i was just diagnosed with herpes in december. i have had unprotected sex with my husband before that and nobody else for 2 years.same for him. i have had a outbreak and he hasn't .does he have it to?also can you explain to me if it is a disease or not.

It's an STD- SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE.
He probably has it, go get him tested.

OMG i think i have herpes, just check and i have some sort of white bump on my bottom lip, im 14, and i really am not worried about it....

listen herepes is a disease but it's not a bad disease, its almost like a pimple, in fact if everyone in the world had it it would be treated as acne....

you cannot help it, sure i don't want it but hey, what can i do!!!

it's really not that big of a deal it comes sometimes and in like 2-3 days it fades away....

you could go to you're doctor and get a prescription to help stop the symptoms of it but it really isn't a big deal to me....

I have studied this for a while, I'm not sure that i have it but i think i might, i hope you and your man have a happy life, you really shouldn't worry that much!!!

There are many variable possibilities:

1. You contracted it from a previous sexual partner. Herpes can lay dormant and not everyone gets a large painful initial outbreak. Herpes outbreaks can be so mild that you could have misdiagnosed yourself with thrush, localized itching or a minor irritation in the past.

2. Your husband was always a carrier and has now passed it on to you.

3. Coldsores (oral herpes) on the mouth (active or inactive) can be transmitted to the genitals (genital herpes) when performing oral sex.

4. You or your husband had extramarital sex with a carrier.

Chicken Pox, Shingles, Mononucleosis, Coldsores are all Herpes Viruses. Someone with genital herpes is about as dis-eased as them. Even acne is a dis-ease.

I recommend that you thoroughly investigate the first 3 possibilites before you jump straight to the 4th conculsion.

Genital herpes is a contagious virus and a sexually transmitted disease.
Most likely he is asymptomatic, either he has oral herpes (what causes cold sores) or he has the genital type of herpes and doesn't know it. Asymptomatic means carrying the virus in his body with out showing symptoms which is common for men with herpes.
He could have contracted herpes from a past partner and passed it onto you.
If you haven't had sex with any one else (that includes oral sex) then you most likely contracted it from your hubby.
You should tell your husband that you have been diagnosed and ask him to get tested if just for your own piece of mind.
