Just curious! My dad found out he had it today after discovering the bulleye bruise and was wondering what would happen if I got it. We have A LOT of ticks where I live.
And since it can be sexually transmitted and you have it for life, would they deal with it as if you had AIDS?
I live in New England. FYI It is not curable in all cases
My great uncle has had it for 20 years
Lyme disease CAN be sexually transmitted through semen, urine, breastmilk and blood.

I'm sorry, you are wrong. Lyme disease can be effectively treated with antibiotics. Also, most ticks do not carry Lyme disease. It is pretty much restricted to the north east of the US. However, if you discover a tick you need to remove it as soon as possible, if you can't go see a doctor. If you don't live in the Northeastern United States the risk is very small. Lyme disease is cause by a bacteria not a virus like HIV.

It is not listed as one of the systemic diseases which would subject you to a medical evaluation board and discharge. It is caused by a bacteria and is treatable with antibiotics with complete remission of symptoms and effects.
There is no evidence that Lyme Disease is transmitted from human to human. It is transmitted through the bite of the black-legged tick. If you know of any case which was sexually transmitted, you should pass on that information to the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta because they sure as h*** never had such a case reported to them.
Of course if you get it and decide not to get it treated you will be discharged. Unfortunately for you it will be considered a case of making your condition worse through your own willful neglect and the Secretary of your military service will have no choice under law than to discharge you as unfit for further service without any disability. Your claim to disability with the VA will be similarly prohibited (Title 10, United States Code, Section 1207).
