Wash hands often with antibacterial soap. You should wash hands long enough to sing the "Happy Birthday" song to get rid of bacteria on your hands.
That's just one of the precautions and the most important one...there are many many things you can do!

Wash your hands frequently. Try to avoid people and places that harbor people who are ill. Take good care of yourself and drink plenty of water. Eat a balanced diet and exercise or get out side regularly. All of these things will help your immune system stay healthy and help to combat illness.

I'm an embalmer so I use Universal Precautions whenever I'm handling human remains.....gown, head/foot covers, double gloves, mask, goggles as well as ventilation to the outside to keep fresh air circulating in the room. For my own safety, I treat every remains as if they were highly infectious. It only takes one careless mistake to become a statistic.
Routinely I keep disinfectant wipes in my car and I use them to wipe shopping cart handles, door knobs in public washrooms. All fruit and veggies are thoroughly washed when I first bring them home and I'm very careful with hand washing and keeping my fingernails clean
