It's simply because at our age, we're thinking about:
who's the hottest,?who dates who?who has what?who goes where?who knows who?

not who has std's!? but who is cool enough to do the deed?

probably because thats when people are most sexually active. Its less that they think they are immune, and more that they aren't really giving the risk enough consideration.
