I'm trying to determine how cleanliness & access to bathing facilities can impact public health (specifically for homeless individuals).
Thanks : )

1. Dermatitus (skin diseases) irritation from having dirt on the skin. There was an elderly man who lived in a school bus and he ended up going to the hospital one winter. A nurse who worked there told me he was covered with sores, especially in the genital area. .
2. Insect-borne diseases from fleas, ticks, etc. Lyme disease comes to mind. Yes, you can be clean and still be bitten by a tick, but the homeless are at much greater risk as they camp out in wooded areas.
3. For women, vaginitus and other infections due to improper hygiene.
4. Dental diseases- tooth decay, cavities, gum disease, abscessed teeth from poor dental hygeine.
