Anyway i was wondering do they just teach absenence in the US cause i heard they do?
I just can't see the point in teaching abstinence, i think ok fine mention it, but if you just teach young people that all they can do is not have sex, then you are going to be left with millions of unwanted pregnancies and wides spread disease.
Thanks

No. The vast majority of schools teach complete sex education. There is just a lot of complaining about that from parents who think they should be teaching only abstinence.

No, they don't. However many schools do not have sex education classes, especially in the south, which is very puritanical.

I got sex ed when I was 16. However, it may have to be taught sooner, as many kids are getting into sexual relations earlier.
Interesting that you should defend England's SexEd when they have places like Soho.

It entirely depends on the grade level of the students. For example, 5th grade students would not get the full STI and Birth Control education. However, older students would. There was a push for federal funding for schools that performed absitenance only sex education. I think it was with the Bush Administration. However, most schools rejected the idea as they realize that kids need comprehensive sex educaiton. According to 'research' and best practice, kids should be taught about potential health risks 2 years before they start engaging in them. So if sex is starting with 14 year olds 12 year olds should be getting the education. I am a huge supporter of talk early talk often!

Ok. The answer is yes and the reason is Education is Government funded. It is believed that the "separation of church and state" would be violated because the teacher would have the opportunity to "express their beliefs" which MIGHT not be that of "the norm" *whatever the norm is* COULD it be taught? Oh yes, but, it would cause a community uproar. The BELIEF is that school is not the place of this, it is the home, but, most parents won't take the time, therefore the school is left to do it. The Religious Right will fight this tooth and nail, just as they will fight evolution Vs "intelligent design"
