Has meat ever been shown to prevent any type of human disease from occurring?

Has meat ever been shown to prevent any type of human disease from occurring? In terms of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc. I've never heard any evidence of meat preventing any of these diseases. Is there any disease that can actually be cured or prevented by eating meat?

(The way that fruits, beans, whole grains, vegetables and other vegetarian foods are actually shown to prevent disease)

This is a very good question. I think people will be hard pressed to find an answer that's legitimate and at the same time something that is not contained in vegetarian foods.

.02 REMAINS
No.

And, by the way, neither have any of the vegetarian foods you mentioned.

It's the nutrients found in the foods that is important, not the source.

And they don't cure or prevent diseases, either. All they do is lower the risk.

Sorry, vegetarianism ISN'T panacea.

Nope, but nutrients found in meat have been shown to prevent certain diseases. .02 cents is correct. However, I would add that it is not just a matter of adding nutrients (found in the foods that you mentioned), but also eliminating certain nutrients found in meat that makes a vegetarian diet beneficial. Therw also is the matter of a reduced incidence of harmful cooking methods (charring on the barbecue).
