My daughter is now 11 years old - so this would have been 11 years ago that it was written and not told to me.

I would definitely ask. It never hurts to question whatever doctor put that there.

I would talk to your doctor as soon as possible. I would be concerned but don't be overly concerned because if there was a problem like this your doctor would have mentioned it to you....but find out just so the worry will be gone.

Absolutely ask the doctor! It's possible that you had what 'appeared to be'... herpes. Which means that they aren't certain, but are smart to be concerned since herpes can be spread to an infant via the birth canal and is very serious. In fact, I wouldn't hesitate to ask the nurse right away, if you're still hospitalized. Many women don't know they have herpes and it can't be found in a blood test - it has to be cultured in a lab from a swab. Good luck...

contact the hospital where the birth took place. ask about herpes being on the chart and ask to be tested just in case. herpes is a virus that has no cure and will be in your body permanently. if there were outbreaks at the time your child was born they could be passed on to the baby if it was a vaginal birth. ask them to test your daughter as well to be on the safe side.

I wouldn't worry about it. Since your daughter is ok, no problems.
