Veery Thrush

Veery Thrush

I am pleased with this sweet video portrait of a Veery thrush. The song of the Veery is one of the most magical and exquisite in the bird world. It is an ethereal downward spiral of flutey notes with an echoing, ventriloquial quality. Frank Chapman, the author of "Bird Life" (1897), had this to say about it: "The Veery's mysterious voice vibrates through the air in pulsating circles of song, like the strains of an Aeolian harp." I couldn't agree more and I hope you like my video portrait! © 2010 Lang Elliott musicofnature.org
