Some bacterial infections that are helped by antibiotics are: Strep throat, pneumonia, conjunctivitis to name a few. Antibiotics can attack the bacteria; however, they also tend to weaken the immune system. The result is that people frequently get subsequent bacterial infections since bacteria is so prevalent in our environment. For example, children who get antibiotics for Otitis Media usually get recurrences.
The key is to strengthen the immune system and save antibiotics for those cases that are very severe.
Vaccinations expose the body to the pathogen in a form that is designed to create immunity. Vaccinations should be reserved for the most serious of diseases.

Although it's not a bacterium, how about the rhinovirus? We've all wanted a cure for the common cold so not only create one but develop a vaccination while you're at it.
And create it so that instead of attacking surface proteins the medication goes after the RNA or DNA. Here are the virus types you can start working on: dsDNA viruses, ssDNA viruses, dsRNA viruses, (+)ssRNA viruses, (−)ssRNA viruses, ssRNA-RT viruses and dsDNA-RT viruses
