Democrats compromised and compromised and agreed to 38 billion.
This is more than half way, a fair compromise by any standard.
But republicans still say no because they want to bar federal funding for Planned Parenthood, which gets funding from Medicaid and other federal sources to provide women with birth control, cancer screenings, AIDS tests and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases. Federal funding is not used to pay for abortion.
They want to shut down government over an IDEOLOGICAL point of view, that has nothing to do with the day to day operations of government.
Why can't they debate this kind of IDEOLOGICAL debate in its proper forum?
Why do they hold the whole country hostage so that they can force their own privately held IDEOLOGY on everyone?
Do they want to hold the entire country hostage because half of it doesn't agree with their stance on women's health?
Is it the Republican policy to FORCE everyone to agree with what they want, or believe in, or else they shut down everything?
Why is compromise not in the Republican vocabulary? Why can't they understand that not everyone believes what they believe.

ODIN: I agree, but there are many more inefficient and wasteful programs than Planned Parenthood to cut. There are many other programs that actually cost real amounts of money, and are much more inefficient.
Planned Parenthood is an actual functioning program that has positive results. Why cut the programs that work, especially ones that compromise so little of the national budget?
