My GF is herpes simplex 1 & 2 free. i have both. can i give her the herpes virus while giving her oral sex?I was just recently diagnosed with herpes simplex 1 and 2. My partner has neither. Can i give her herpes simplex 2 by giving her unprotected oral sex when i have no open sores in or around my mouth even though i just recently contracted the disease less than 20 days ago?
Aminah if you just recently contracted it then you really should not do anything with her.

LINDSEY S Yes while it's less likely to be passed with out an out break, you can pass herpes even if you don't have any signs or symptoms of a break out orally or genitally. Even if you don't have signs of it you still have herpes in your body and you can shed it at any time. If you're not taking anti viral medication or at least using condoms when you don't have a break out, then you could give her herpes. If she doesn't know about your status you should tell her so she can make an informed decision. You can give her oral herpes on her genitals if you give her oral sex but again it's more likely to happen if you have a break on your mouth.
