Pop hip-hop pushing aside artists like Madlib and Flying Locust?I don't quite understand. I am aware that hip-hop is popular in many mediums,(pop rap, sample rap, underground hip hop, etc). I find it that the most popular artists, like Lil Wayne receive the most attention when he produces "bad" albums(in my opinion). Someone like Madlib/Quasimoto produces great albums on a common basis and if "you"(or I) were to ask a contemporary hip hop enthusiast about "Ahmad Miller", you would probably get a "huh?", or a "yeah, he's okay". Does anyone feel that underground/ambient hip hot is way underrated due to more "accessible" popular artists? As far as lyrical content goes, rapping about the industry as a whole infused with urban/the black experience in America(considered you are black) is much more appealing than talking about venereal diseases and your problems with other rappers variation on the kind of wheels they've got parked in their driveway.
