Can a man not have symptoms of chlamydia, but still have it?

Can a man not have symptoms of chlamydia, but still have it?I went in for my annual pap smear and I had been spotting abnormally since I had my last period for 3 weeks now. I doctor called me on Friday and told me I had been exposed to chlamydia. My boyfriend and I have not had sex for about 4 weeks now, because I am uncomfortable with the spotting. He has been my ONLY partner in the last 2 years and when I had my annual pap done last year everything was normal. I brought it to his attention and he stated that he has not experienced any sign or symptoms of chlamydia. He went to the doctor and he has no discharge around this penis.

How is it possible that he has not experienced any symptoms? I am scared and confused!!! Please help clarify this for me.

Not everybody has symptoms. Some have major symptoms and others have none. If you want to learn more go to http://teenshealth.org/teen/sexual_health/stds/std_chlamydia.html

Unfortunately it can be undetected, and is, in both sexes, quite a lot. Women, if they are not treated for a period of time, can develop Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) which may affect fertility. The length of time that may take varies depending on the severity of the infection, her immune system and of course, time.

That's the bad news- the good news is that, if taken as directed, the right antibiotics can cure you both easily.

Yeah, my boyfriend had it for a long time with no symptoms. I called this STD Hotline 1-888-585-8798
told them my symptoms, they arranged for a lab test near my home, and then faxed the prescription directly to a pharmacy 1 block away.
It's a toll free call and they are very professional.
