Maybe this is silly, but i've heard that it's something boys can pass onto girls, giving them cervical cancer

Please tell me this isn't serious.
There is no way to transfer cancer.

HPV, or Genital human papillomavirus (HPV), is a common STD. It can manifest itself in lots of ways, like genital warts. It can also lead to cervical cancer. You can get the cancer without having HPV, but HPV will increase your risks. HPV has no cure, but it's preventable with the vaccine.
The vaccine won't help you if you already have HPV, and there are lots of worse things you can get from having unprotected sex. Have your man put on a condom, and you should both get tested from time to time.

How old are you ? Why don't you ask your mom or go to the library and find some books on this issue ?
Selena
Yes, due to the high number of teenage pregnancy. That's the reason the schools are getting vaccinations.
