Ok. HIV/AIDS attacks your immune system.. your immune system is what fights off colds/flu.. Many people with HIV/AIDS can live long and normal lives not EVERYONE dies. But for people with the virus who's body's give in to the disease usually die because they can't even fight off a simple cold. STDs.. are sexually transmitted and HIV and Herpes are considered STDS. Some Stds are curable but everything that starts with the letter "H" isnt. Herpes is a std and isn't curable the difference between herpes and HIV is that herpes does not damage your immune system.. and yes you can live with herpes all your life.. same with any other std.

Today most people with HIV will live to an old age and die of something else if they take their medicine and take care of their body.
Herpes is something that you never get rid of you just learn to live with it The other STD's are treatable if you know that you have them. Not all Of them have symptoms that are recognized. Things like HPV are getting more attention now because now there is a vaccine for it.

HIV is the virus that leads to the disease AIDS. Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome meaning its killing your immune system. you will not die from AIDS but you will die from a cold or flu etc because your immune system will not be strong enough to kill of the cold etc.
- there is treatment from HIV to slow down the process of it changing to AIDS. but it isnt guaranteed you will live your whole life. one day you could wake up and the medicine may not work anymore.
STD = sexually transmitted disease. so it depends which one you are talking about..
i do not believe you can die from herpes. so yeah you will live with that disease.
