During a routine Physical Examination do doctors test for STIs such as Chlamydia, Gonorrhea etc. during a Pap?

During a routine Physical Examination do doctors test for STIs such as Chlamydia, Gonorrhea etc. during a Pap?Smear ? After I got my results the doctor found an infection and prescribed me Metroinzadole Vaginal gel 0.75 and said no sex. I looked it up and it was prescribed for Bacterial Vaginosis. Can this antibiotic gel kill the Chlamydia bacteria ?

It seems you are asking two questions.

I have been going to the gynecologist for 8 years and they have never checked me for any STDs during my annual examination. But I have never had any kind of vaginal infection.

Both Bacterial Vaginosis and Chlamydia are contagious. It can be transmitted through sexual contact.

I do not understand why you are asking about Chlamydia. Your doctor should have told you what you have. If he/she didn't you should call the doctors office and ask them to clarify what you have tested positive for.

Both Bacterial Vaginosis and Chlamydia are treated with antibiotics, but only a doctor will know if Metronidazole will cure Chlamydia.

But usually Chlamydia is treated with azithromycin (Zithromax) or doxycycline.

Good luck.

Actually yes they do check for std's, infections and cancer cells during your regular exam. This is why they found you had Bacterial Vaginosis. The first person doesn't know anything about it since she never got an abnormal smear. I have requested to look at my records and they tested for Chlamydia and other std's and I asked why and she said they have to do that by law, that is why I know. Why are you worried about curing Chlamydia? Also no it won't kill that type of bacteria.
