Is it likely to get a vaginal infection or STD from putting an object into your vagina?

Is it likely to get a vaginal infection or STD from putting an object into your vagina? So this morning I was masturbating with an electric toothbrush and I put the bottom of it into my vagina, having forgotten to wash it before I inserted it. I took it out really quick because I rememberd that it wasn't clean. I took a shower right after and washed down there. My question is: can you get a vaginal infection or an STD from doing this? I'm a bit nervous I'll get an infection of some sort.

only if it cut you somehow, then you should you be worried, because an infection could have gotten into the cut.

If you or someone who has had an STD used the toothbrush for vaginal or anal penetration and it wasn't thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before you used it again, yes, it's possible.

Other than that, the fact that you were using a toothbrush that wasn't clean probably means there were germs on it and putting that in a sensitive and spongy area without cleaning could lead to an infection, though it's doubtful. If you start having symptoms (bleeding, irritation, discharge, burning) see your physician.

Usually vagina is sterile except lactobacillus. By putting foreign objects, it may get contaminated. It is necessary on your part to maintain reproductive health.

no you cant get an STD but you can get some form of other minor infections through inserting dirty objects down there.

STDs can be transmitted through sexual fluids

While possible, the likelihood of an STD is very low. You would first have to use it on an infected person, then you use it rather quickly or the little bugs will die. In a pinch, wash the object with alcohol, 99% clean(at least) otherwise hot water and a good anti-bacterial soap is safer for the object probably.

A general infection, ABSOLUTELY!!! Your vagina offers germs a warm and welcome environment. Warm and moist, a bacteria's favorite condition. Whatever you use be sure to wash it WELL. Most germs will perish with soap and water (soap is not anti-bacterial, it breaks down surface tension. suspense them then they are washed away), alcohol is good, and bleach, cut say x3, x4 water kills about everything, and fast. If it will fit, enclose it in a condom, simple, fast, effective. In the heat of the moment you're not going to jump up, run into the bathroom and start washing, LOL .but five seconds to retrieve, open and install a condom should not be a problem.

If your sharing a toy with a partner bear in mind germs can be elusive. They may or may not effect different people. Men CAN be infected but show no symptoms. They are called carriers (remember typhoid Mary?). A good example is HPV, men can and ARE carriers. usually they are not even aware, No effect on them, but introduced to a vagina and all hell breaks loose!

Also some HPV strains can be stopped by a vaccine. Not all but enough to make it worthwhile. And finally NEVER, NEVER use a toy in anal play, then insert it in a vagina without disinfecting. The likelihood of infection is very high!
