I'm someone who works out in gym six days a week and still likes to enjoy an occasional cigarette without some bum pissing me off about what I should be doing. Most smokers of today are already aware of the rights of non-smokers -and we RESPECT that. There's something known as smoking etiquette where you must ask the permission of non-smokers before lighting up in their presence. With common courtesy, it is possible to keep everyone's interests in mind. Why infringe on the freedom of smokers alone?
And for all those voicing concern over "passive smoking", why doesn't it go into your head you're inhaling a greater volume of smoke from exhaust pipes of automobiles - many food products contain chemicals which don't suit your body and can cause long-term damage. Many meat products are unhealthy and have similar effects on your health. So, if you're 60 years old and find yourself in the most disgusting shape, don't blame your past on smoking alone. It's always a combination of factors - I see no wisdom in singling out an occasional cigarette for all woes in your life.

i know i know, I actually smoke, however smoking is a discusting, stinky, filthy habit. I do not want my kids in around or near my smoke or anyone elses for that matter. Most all things are unhealthy I agree with you on that but oh I have nothing else to say :)

Smoke all you want... just don't expect me to deal with the filth and risk of it.

I know super WEAK - why of all the pressing issues our country faces here and abroad, we have poeple that make it their personal mission to stop other people from smoking- I personally think it's incredibly weak and if i could throw these people on a green peace boat and send them to the coasts of japan i would. SHOW THEM WHAT A REAL MISSION IS.

Good for you. However, there are still too many people who don't have this level of common courtesy. I don't mind if people smoke, but I don't smoke. Its pretty frustrating when I take my pregnant wife to the hospital and she starts coughing uncontrollably because we can't get from the car to the door without walking through a plume of second hand smoke. Its even worse when I see my 20 month old daughter start coughing.

Its those god damn clean lungs, they are jealous of the benefits smokers receive. Better social skills, the appetite suppression, the satisfaction of a few quiet moments to have a smoke. If all these oxygen breathers would just take a breath break and walk outside enjoy the day for about 2 minutes and then go back to work, maybe they wouldn't be so bitter. Now I am assuming you live in America but be grateful your not abroad. England has gone nuts with cigarette warning labels...
Fight the Fight for your Civil Rights as a Cigarette Dependent American.
Damn those Clean Lungs!
