Why do some insist Circumcision reduces the risk of STDs when research indicates otherwise?Research, as cited below shows that the effect of circumcision is to increase the chances of many STDs being transmitted, while reducing the risk of very few. The frequently cited information about HIV transmission is not indicated to hold true in western nations, for various reasons.

Conclusion. The evidence does not support non-therapeutic circumcision to prevent STD infection. On balance, non-circumcision is to be preferred because of the freedom from complications and other adverse effects."
