The mom
PID is a big term that just refers to the inflammation caused by an infection of the reproductive organs. Inflammation is just the way the body reacts to some infections. It has several causes, but primarily it is due to some kind of STD most often. In your case, the bacteria that caused it was chlamydia. Treating you to get rid of the chlamydia is possible, and yes it would get rid of the infection. However it will not do anything for the damage the infection has already done. It just prevents it from doing any more. If the damage was not too severe, your body may heal and you will not have symptoms. You can still get PID again though, if you get reinfected. You need to take all the antibiotic you are prescribed as directed, and be sure to return for the followup appointment. Your partner also needs to be treated as well. If the antibiotic kills the infection, then you won't need any other ongoing treatment for that. You may still need treatment to repair any blockages or treat scarring that happened as a result of it, though.
