do you think the pregnant woman should take a leave from her work until she gives birth?

do you think the pregnant woman should take a leave from her work until she gives birth?situation: A woman employed in a company, 6 months pregnant for the first time and is presently experiencing so many physiologic discomforts. She is at risk of food/water poisoning and toxic waste hazards. She is also under treatment of a sexually transmitted disease.

Not only should she take maternity leave for the health of the child, but the risk of food/water poisoning and toxic waste is dangerous to both her and especially her child.

If its really that bad, probably yeah. But its really nothing a packaged lunch and proper medical attention cant take care of... :) Most women work until they actual go into labor, it really should depend on how she feels and what she is able to handle... All women are different in how they handle their pregnancy.

For the discomforts? No. Almost all pregnant women have discomforts and still work. Some until the day they give birth. I mean if they are able to take off and can afford it then by all means go ahead, but that isn't really a medical reason not to work.

I don't know what you mean by risk of food/water poisoning and toxic waste hazards. So I can't really answer that. I guess if it was such a risk, why are they waiting to take off at 6 months? If it was such a risk, why didn't that person take off from the beginning?

And I don't see what being treated for STDs has anything to do with not working.

I think she should based on the career she is in. If it puts her at risk at all towards the baby she shouldn't work there.

if she is at risk for those things at work, then i dont think it would be a safe enviroment for a pregnant person. most companies that carry that type of risk allow longer leaves of absense. also she should speak to her doctor and explain the situation and see what their opinion is.

pain is normal during pregnancy. stretching, sleeping with a body pillow under the belly and in between the knees and massage of the hips and small of the back can help with some of those pains.
