How can so many young people be this uneducated about sex in the age of the internet?

How can so many young people be this uneducated about sex in the age of the internet?I was in high school in the mid 90's. The internet was new and paled in comparison to what it is now. Even back then, I was still very aware of how to have sex, how sexually transmitted diseases were transferred (and how to avoid them), how a woman gets pregnant, and how to avoid pregnancy.

It's ten years later; everyone has access to the internet, young people are exposed to much harsher television and movies, and yet there is this mass ignorance! I'm amazed at some of the questions on here. Have schools scaled back their sex education or something?

there are lots of schools that have cut out sex ed for various reasons #1 being budget cuts

All we did in our class was the teachers show us some nude pics then the disease video. I don't think I learned much. But I think that your right.

Just because youth today has access to the internet and movies with sexual activity in them, they are not educationally accurate and can actually give the wrong idea about things. Not everything posted on the inernet is true and movies are just movies. Some schools today do give sexual education classes, but most do not. It is usually up to the parents or guardians of youth today to educate the ones that they are responsible for. Some teenagers and young adults even end up learning from experience, which is not exactly the best way to learn these types of things.

because they are to busy watching porn instead of reading info.
