Genital Herpes simplex 2.....?

Genital Herpes simplex 2.....?i've done all my research, and im confused about some things.

i've researched various websites saying that, if you're a female with genital herpes (2) and your partner is clean, if you two were to have unprotected sex, while she's not having an outbreak, and while she's taking daily medicene, the chance of transmission to the man would be 4% a year. thats so LOW. So the chances of him catching it would obviously be.. very slim..

since this is the case (well in this situation) then why is genital herpes such a BIG DEAL? why do they make it such a big deal and say it's SO contagious. i mean it IS contagious if you're not doing something about it... but i mean if your taking your meds everyday and the chances of him catching it is low.... then.. whats the big deal..

also, they say that if you have symptoms, the symptoms will most likely show 2-30 days after it's transmitted to you. if thats the case, then why does MOST of genital herpes carriers have NO idea they have it?

I found out recently i have genital herpes simplex 2, i had sex with someone about this time last year (who i believe is the one who gave it to me..) and another this past summer... i got my first outbreak this past August. people are telling me it's most likely the one i had sex with this past summer... but... im so postive it was the other man. I dont know how that works either..

Obviously the window of infection was past for the first man but within the time frame for the second, therefore the assumption that it is man number 2 is correct. Most folks, even those with known herpes simplex 2 don't want to be bothered with taking medication daily and it isn't routinely prescribed to take daily for those that don't have a serious ongoing breakout. So, therefore the fact that lots of folks have mild outbreaks and ignore them, don't know they are infected or aren't in a position to take regular meds is why it is so contagious.
