Can I really get HSV 2 from receiving oral sex from a girl or any or many girls who happen to get cold sores (HSV 1???????) once and a while? Tell me it's not soo lol. Is this true? Or maybe is is maybe it isn't. I'm confused.

Nope! You cannot get HSV-2 (genital herpes) from a girl who has HSV-1 (oral herpes/cold sores). They are two separate types of the virus.
But you sure as heck can get HSV-1 (oral herpes) ON YOUR GENITALS from receiving oral sex! To put it simply, she can transmit the virus from her lips--to your privates. Unless you took a swab of the mouth--and the genitals--and examined them under a microscope, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between HSV-1 and HSV-2 outbreaks. Same symptoms, same treatment, similar rates of transmission (see the source).
Just FYI, oral sex has created the largest increase in genital herpes cases among teens today.

Genital herpes is usually caused by HSV 2.
However, genital herpes can be also caused by HSV 1, but is not as common.
You can transmit an oral herpes infection to the genital area through oral sex.
Your gf performing oral on you with an active cold sore present is a high risk for this occurring.

You're not going to get HSV2 from cold sores, they are caused by HSV1 (oral herpes). But oral herpes can be passed from the mouth to the genitals, if oral sex is given while there are any signs of a cold sore. Oral herpes is very contagious while there are any signs of a cold sore. IT IS TRUE, I contracted herpes that way so it's possible. It's not going to be HSV2 but any type of herpes that occurs below the waist gets called genital herpes.
