get into a good medical school first , get good grades and participate in research if you can, it will help . maybe when you do graduate or when you become an intern you will change your mind and want another speciality , or maybe you won't. the most important thing is to become a good dr so be a good student and a good person .
i hope you reach your goal.
good luck.

You can find some pretty cool new and used books at www.alibris.com, www.amazon.com and all kinds of information about both common and rare dzs at www.medbioworld.com. The medical libraries at med schools are a great resource of information.
Just run a search for "infectious diseases" and something's bound to come up. Enjoy!
