In fact PPH does not even provide abortion but services to avoid abortions and in only very extreme cases helps those with abortion services. Only 3% of their budget goes to abortion services. It is estimated that the program saves 650,000 unwanted births a year and 200,000 abortions. Our Military families won't get paid and won't have health coverage if this shutdown happens and are being told they won't be reimbursed even after a shutdown would be over. Congress needs to pull their head out of their you know what.
Regardless if there are still other issues this program should not hold up our budget process and leave our military families without pay and health coverage and ready to strike if the shutdown happens. I have friends in the military and today their check were cut in half in anticipation of the shutdown and are being told they won't be reimbursed.
Jonathan- The money spent on abortions is 30 million total and that goes to help determine whether an abortion is the right thing for the women and to educate them . Planned parenthood does not perform abortions
PPH keeps us from spending billions later on in social programs from kids who are unwanted, who then become teenage criminals, who then become low life adults in society, and drain our social services.
Thankyoumam
Oh, so you saw Harry Reid's speech and you believed him.
A couple of weeks ago Reid was complaining that the budget cuts were going to eliminate federal support for the Cowboy Poetry Gathering held in Nevada each year.
Reid has gone nuts.

"In fact PPH does not even provide abortion but services to avoid abortions and in only very extreme cases helps those with abortion services"
This is outright untrue. The number of abortions they have performed FAR outshadows any 'non-abortion" referrals they gave.
The government has no right to fund any organization that performs abortions, even if the money used does not go towards it. I am upset that my money is spent, even if only a small percentage, on abortions.
There are plenty of alternate programs that would eagerly fill the place of Planned Parenthood and not offer abortion. I would give them my money without hesitation.
@Additonal Details: I agree that this kind of an issue should not be holding up the decision to cut funding. It is stupid and immature. I have family in the military (Brother, Sister and a Brother-in-law) that are feeling this intimately. But, we need to hold our grounds. Compromising in this situation is going to hurt us more down the road than it will now.
"The money spent on abortions is 30 million total and that goes to help determine whether an abortion is the right thing for the women and to educate them . Planned parenthood does not perform abortions"
The spending report from PPH says otherwise.

While I agree that planned parenthood perform the other services you mentioned, they from what I see do provide 2 types of abortions. One is the in clinic and abortion pill. I do think that they should pass the bill without parenthood funds. So that the troops can continue to receive their benefits, and debate planned parenthood funds later. I agree with u that the planned parenthood funds are needed for women, and that this whole debate is showing our character as a nation to other nations. Please believe that they are looking at us and forming their opinions about the American people.

Planned Parenthood does indeed provide abortions. Do I like the fact that there might be a government shutdown? Absolutely not! But times are changing; we as a country need to trim our budget down. We as people have learned (or in some cases are still learning) to live within a smaller budget. The government needs to also. The spending has gone on for far too long. We can not as a country strive if we continue to just print money and deflate the value of our dollar. Other countries own our debt; someday soon they will stop funding us (the USA as a country) unless we change our spending ways.
