Does having a Yeast Infection make Sexual Intercourse painful?

Does having a Yeast Infection make Sexual Intercourse painful?I am curious, if having a yeast infection will make sexual intercourse (or any sexual activity) painful or very uncomfortable 'down there'?

Thanks..
Is there anything I can take to treat a yeast infection? Besides those nasty Vagasil pills you insert.
I am on anti-biotics for a bladder infection, and they always cause me to get a yeast infection.
Anything I can buy at the store to easily treat this?

It can, but you should refrain from such because he can give you the infection right back... Or, he can give it to others. HE won't get the infection, but he sure can be a carrier..

Antibiotics are what likely gave you the yeast infection, like you said. Usually when you get antibiotics and your a woman the doctor will also give you a pill that will help to keep you from getting a yeast infection.

I would imagine that since you have smelly discharge and a yeast infection causes irritation of your vagina from just being there and because it is itchy it would make vaginal intercourse uncomfortable and awkward. It wouldn't help to clear your yeast infection or bladder infection to have sex. I am sorry I know that's a downer, but it's the truth. The more activity you have around that area the more the pH and good bacteria in your vagina get out of whack. And the more likely that bacteria will be pushed up your urethra into your bladder.

Since you are already on antibiotic medication I doubt (but I am no doctor) that it would help you at this point to take an oral medication for the yeast infection. Like I said the pill the doctor usually gives you before you start the antibiotics tries to keep you from getting one.

There are the messy creams that can cure yeast infections. I don't know if they will cure it while you are still on the antibiotics, but it would at least start clearing it up in some way. Monistat does make those make an ovule that is less messy than the creams.

I'm sorry if that is what you were talking about, but I believe it's your best bet. If you have to have sex, then I suggest your partner wear a condom. But like I said it probably won't be a great feeling for you can could make things worse. So I would just keep up with your antibiotics (you have to talk them all or they don't work), get some Monistat to keep the yeast infection under control until, and not have sex to let the area try to heal and not introduce more bacteria. After your antibiotics are gone if you still have the yeast infection you could ask the doctor about an oral form of medication to treat your yeast infection.

And you can eat some probiotic yogurt and that can help your yeast infection.

If you ever have to use antibiotics again, please ask about the pill (Diflucan) that helps to keep you from getting a yeast infection.

And I am not sure if you are on the birth control pill or not, but if you are antibiotics lower the effectiveness of the birth control pill. So you will need a back up birth control method anytime you have sex while you are on antibiotics. And it will take a full month from the last antibiotic pill you take for the antibiotics to be out of your system and your birth control pill to be effective again. I asked my gynecologist about that.

Good luck!
