It is impossible to say, but for most people, it gets better with time. Usually when first infected, the outbreaks will be more frequent and more severe, but they will lessen over time.
And there are of course medications that can reduce the frequency and severity of your outbreaks AND reduce your chances of passing it on. Ask your doctor.

There is nothing to predict how often they will happen for you, every one with herpes is different when it comes to out breaks. Keep track of what triggers them, use some kind of suppressive therapy and you could keep your out breaks away for months or years. Mine only happen every 5-6 months and they are hardly noticeable after having herpes for 2 years.
